Top 5 Tips for Planning a Hen Do.
So, your bestie’s getting hitched! Cue the confetti, the prosecco, and the frantic Pinterest scrolling sesh. Planning a hen do can feel like a lot of pressure, but it doesn’t have to be stressful.
Here are my top 5 tips for creating a hen weekend everyone will love, plus a little something special for those looking for a fun and relaxed, countryside vibe.

1. Chat with the Bride (Duh!)
This may seem obvious, but it’s the most important! What does the bride actually want? Is she a wild night out kinda gal, or does she prefer something more chilled?
Does she dream of relaxing in a hot tub with afternoon tea, maybe she loves dancing and karaoke, or is she more into outdoor adventures? Get the lowdown early on to avoid any major mismatches.
Another handy tip – You might find things eaier at this stage to avoid setting up the the full party WhatsApp group full of everyones personal requests. Once you’re happy with they type of Hen Do the bride will enjoy, give yourself time to do some reasearch before you offer your plans to the whole group. Which nicely leads me to point 2…
2. Set a Budget (and Stick to It… ish)
Money can be a tricky subject, so it’s best to be upfront about it from the get-go. Figure out a rough budget per person for your plans and be clear about what’s included (and what’s not).
There are lots of free online tools that can help with this and don’t be afriad to ask for quotes. As a guide we typically charge £95pp* for a two night hen party lodge booking, hen party craft workshops range from £35pp* and individual afternoon tea / graze boxes are aproximatly £15pp*.
Try to avoid unexpected costs popping up later by having a clear plan and letting everyone know what to budget.
Don’t forget to also let everyone know what dates you need to collect any payments from them by, and check the booking terms of your suppliers so you don’t end up out of pocket if someone drops out last minute.
*Pricing correct at time of publication (Janurary 2025) but subject to change.

3. Location, Location, Location!
Where you go sets the whole tone for the hen do. City break? Beach getaway? Or maybe… a farm escape?! (More on that later!). Think about what kind of atmosphere you’re going for and what kind of activities are available in the area.
We are lucky at Fen Farm to right on the edge of the beauitful city of Lincoln with its selection of fantastic resturants, bars, and nightlife to choose from. There are are also lots of activites to choose from in the local area including escape rooms, water parks, plus relaxed shoping and cute cafes in the historic bailgate.

4. Activities – Mix it Up!
A good hen do has a mix of activities to keep everyone entertained. Don’t be afraid to mix it up! Think about combining some classic hen do fun (cocktail making, anyone?) with something a bit different. A relaxing spa treatment, a engaging craft activity, yoga session or even some fun farm activities (if you’re lucky enough to be on a farm!) can be a great way to bond and create lasting memories.

5. Don’t Forget the Little Details!
It’s the little things that make a hen do special. Think about little touches, like welcome bags, fun personalised games, or a themed playlist. These small gestures show the bride how much you care.
